Kilimanjaro Day Trip overview

Leave Arusha at 7:00 am and drive to Marangu Gate on the east side of Kilimanjaro. Do the paperwork at the park gate, like registering. Start hiking at about 9:30 am. Hike through the rainforest from the park gate (6000 ft) to Mandara Hut (9000 ft). This takes about 3 to 4 hours. Stop halfway for lunch. Reach Mandara Huts at about 1:30 pm. After a short tour at the hut, start hiking back down to Marangu Gate and reach the gate around 4:45 pm. You can take a short 15-minute trip to Maundi Crater for views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. Return to Arusha and arrive in the late evening.
