This unique phenomenon is the only place in Tanzania, and possibly all of East Africa, where groundwater interacts with geothermal sources, forming small lakes with warm, never-stagnant water. The water’s purity rivals that of the best Dominican or Maldivian resorts. Living in Moshi, I often visit Chemka Hot Springs despite it becoming more popular. For tourists, it’s one of the best things to do in Arusha and Moshi. It’s a must-visit if you have extra days before or after your safari for its relaxed vibe.
