7 DAYS MIKUMI,NYERERE AND RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

Day 1 : Dar es Salaam to Mikumi NP

Pick up from the Airport, ferry or Hotel and drive to Mikumi National Park which is approximately 5 hours’ drive. You will have a short stop in Morogoro for hot lunch. After Lunch proceed to Mikumi NP for afternoon game drive. Enjoy afternoon game drive with sunset view at hippo pool where you can see the animal’s coming to drink.

Animals commonly found in this park Include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and elephants and many more. Wild dog can be seen in packs here. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.

Late evening drive to the cottage for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 : Morning Game Drive in Mikumi NP then drive to Ruaha National Park

Wake up for early morning game drive until 08:00 am then drive back at the cottage for breakfast. After breakfast start the journey to Ruaha National Park with stopover in Iringa Town for hot lunch.

Arrive for afternoon game drives in the park looking for hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, reedbuck and buffalo venture to the river’s edge to drink, attracting the attention of lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog and jackal. There are many birds in the park include Eurasia migrants that comes to visit the park twice a year. Late evening drive to the banda for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 : Full Day Game Drive in Ruaha National Park

Wake up for early morning game drive which will take about two hours then drive back at the cottage for breakfast. After breakfast you will proceed with full day game drive to explore the beautiful of the park, with its full of rocky, kopjes and ancient baobab trees. Late evening you will drive back to the bandas for dinner and overnight.

A fine network of game viewing roads follows the Great Ruaha River and its seasonal tributaries, where during the dry season impala, waterbuck and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of life sustaining water. And the risk is considerable not only from the pride of 10-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetah that stalk the open grassland.

Day 4 : Morning Game Drive in Ruaha NP then drive to Morogoro Via Isimila Stone Age Site

Wake up for early breakfast then start driving to the exit gate with game drive en-route. After existing the park you will start driving to Isimila Stone Age Site via Iringa town. This tour will take about two hours then drive to Morogoro Arc Hotel for dinner and overnight.

The tour of the site begins at the little museum where a guide gives a brief introduction to the formation of the site and explains more about the fossils and tools that are displayed. The tour then continues into the canyon down a steep footpath. Once there the guide shows you some of the beds where the tools were found and explained how the rock towers were formed. The walk is very scenic, the earth has a warm reddish tint and it is also a good spot to see birds.

Day 5 : Morogoro to Nyerere NP (Ex Selous GR) afternoon boat safari

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Nyerere NP.

The journey is the most amazing and truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania. The drive will take you along the Uluguru Mountains across rivers and pass through small local villages and farms. The drive is tiring but possibly the most rewarding and adventures on the southern circuit.

Arrive in Nyerere NP (Ex Selous GR) for afternoon boat Safari from 1600h until sunset.
Boat safari brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile and fantastic bird life. Crocodile glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippo appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

Day 6 : Full day game drive in Nyerere NP (Ex Selous Game Reserve)

Wake up for early breakfast then you will go out for game drive.

Today you will have full day game drive In Nyerere NP (Ex Selous Game Reserve) exploration of the Reserve by 4wd vehicle; will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park. You will continue with game drive until sunset.

Day 7: Walking Safari in the Wild then Drive to Dar es Salaam

Wake up early in the morning and have a cup of coffee or tea, then go out for wilderness walking safari with guidance of an armed ranger which will take two to two and a half hours.

Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for African wild. You will get the chance to touch the nature, see the different foot print and droppings of different wild animals and small creatures that you can’t see them during the game drive. After walking safari you will go back to the camp/ lodge for breakfast then pack your stuff and start drive back to Dar es Salaam with lunch pack. Drop off at your hotel or airport for your next destination.
