Day 1 : Arusha-Materuni Waterfall

You will be picked up in the morning, by our English-speaking Rafiki. He will drive you to Materuni Village. The last part of the drive to Materuni is exciting as you’ll drive up, on a small bumpy road, past beauitful views of the surrounding forests. Upon arrival, you will register at the village office and your trip can begin.The Materuni waterfall is around a 40 minute walk away from the starting point. It’s not reachable by car, which makes this trip a bit more adventurous! On your way there, your guide will tell you many tales of the Chagga culture, the village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora of Materuni. The views are truly breathtaking and with some luck you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro.Upon reaching the waterfalls of Materuni, you will notice that’s in impressive 80meters high!

Day 2 : Arusha-Manyara national Park

You’ll have breakfast at 7:00 am. You will be picked up from the lodge at 8:00 am and drive on tarmac road for 60km with lunch boxes to Lake Manyara National Park. It is 330sq km or 127sq miles on the base of the Great Rift Valley, for the afternoon game drives. The park is home to lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, buffalos, giraffes, baboons, blue and vervet monkeys, warthogs and more. About 350 species of birds have be en recorded. This small park contains five distinct vegetation zones, supporting a large variety of birds and animals. The Lake Manyara National Park is also famous for its large flocks of flamingos. In this park canoeing has recently been added to the tourist activities in this park at an extra cost. This is a great way to see the park from a new perspective.

Day 3 : Karatu-Serengeti

Today’s drive takes you to the famous Serengeti National Park, home of the great wildebeest migration. This exciting drive up the highlands provides a spectacular birdseye view of the Ngorongoro Crater. As you crest the hillside, as far as the eyes can see, the vast expanse of the 6,900sq miles (18,000 sq km) Serengeti is spread out before you. Serengeti, defined as “endless plains” in Kiswahili, is inhabited by more than two million large mammals including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebra, and Thomson’s gazelle. Large predators including lions, cheetahs and hyenas are drawn to the area by the abundance of prey that migrates throughout the park. Smaller animals like rock hyrax, bat-eared fox, mongoose, honey badger, jackal, monkey, baboon and African hare, with nearly 500 species of bird, also inhabit the area.

Day 4 : Full Day in Serengeti

Today’s tour departs around 6am in search of nocturnal predators returning from their night’s hunting or animals waking up in the early dawn. Breakfast boxes will be prepared, and you will take a brief stop for a bush breakfast to enjoy the sunrise. Next, your drive will continue to Grumeti River searching for the migration, look for prides of lions, cheetahs and leopards, all in abundance in the Serengeti. You will learn the history of the park as we pass by the information centre in the Seronera area, before returning to your lodge for a relaxed lunch and cold drinks. Later in the afternoon, when the sun is less intense, you have the option to go on an early evening game drive or a nature walk around the camp with the resident tribesmen, who will be happy to share their knowledge of the region’s plants and animals with you.

Day 5 : Another Day in Serengeti

Today you will continue your African safari experience to one of the country’s biggest draws: the Serengeti National Park. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife that call the Serengeti home are unsurpassed. The Wildebeest Migration with more than a million wildebeest is probably the highlight of the Serengeti. It is a true spectacle and impressive to watch millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti.Together with your private guide, you will be looking for the herds across the plains. Apart from the migratory animals, you will also get to see lots of other animals, like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. Expect to be impressed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park.If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend you to go on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife.

Day 6 : Serengeti-Ngorongoro

After breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for a once in a lifetime safari tour. The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a thick volcanic crater. It is the most significant unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. Upon descending to the crater floor, you will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater, which is one of the crater’s leading features.

Day 7: Karatu-Tarangire-Arusha

You will be picked up from your hotel in Karatu at 8:00 am and drive on tarmac road 50 km to Tarangire National Park (2,850sq km or 1,005sq miles) for game drives. Enjoy a picnic lunch and thereafter continue with afternoon game viewing in the park. It’s home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, pythons, zebras, oryx, impalas and more. Over 450 species of birds have been observed. You’ll be dropped off in Arusha or at the airport.
